Client: Nitty Dornjandaeng

I was approached to design a series of four custom desk mats and novelty keyboard keys that matched the visual aesthetic. My client had very specific designs in mind all revolving around his backpack. While working with a strict palette and design requests, I was able to create two highly illustrative desk mats and two abstract desk mats. Additionally, I was very excited to get to build a set of iconographic designs for
the custom keyboard.

DESK MAT DESIGNS

DESIGN 1
This first desk mat design
was very specifically
requested by my client. He
wanted an illustration of his
backpack inhaling different
items. He was inspired by the
character Kirby and wanted
the palette to match his real
life backpack.

DESIGN 2.1 & 2.2
For these next two designs, my client really wanted something more abstract and geometric. I liked the idea of filling the rectangular space with triangular shape language and focused on balancing the limited color palette.

DESIGN 3
The third and final desk mat
design was my favorite one to create! I really enjoyed
mixing the concept of the first desk illustrative mat and the novelty icons. I liked the idea knolling and laying out the assets in an evenly balanced way.

NOVELTY KEYS: EARLY ITERATIONS
I really got to dive into iconographic design when creating the novelty keys. The biggest challenge was balancing detail and simplicity while meeting all the printing requirements.
